Author of The Prentice Hall Anthology of African American Women's LiteratureGranny Midwives and Black Women Writers: Double-Dutched Readings, Invisible Man's Literary Heritage: Benito Cereno and Moby Dick, and of articles and reviews on African American literature and theory, and multicultural pedagogy. Recipient of the OSU Alumni Distinguished Teaching Award and the OSU Distinguished Service Award.

Formerly, Dr. Lee served as the Chair of the Department of Women's Studies ( now Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies) and as Chair of the Department of English, as well as Vice Provost for Diversity and inclusion and Vice President for Outreach and Engagement at The Ohio State Univeristy.
