Recent speaking events by Simone C. Drake for Black History Month
Dr. Simone C. Drake is participating in a variety of speaking engagements as part of Black History Month. Just yesterday, she was a guest on Texas Public Radio's The Source to discuss her edited volume Are You Entertained?: Black Popular Culture in the Twenty-First Century, as well as serving as a panelist for a webinar series sponsored by the Black Studies program at University of Wyoming on D. W. Griffith’s Birth of a Nation. In addition, Wednesday, February 17th, at 3 PM Dr. Drake will be a panelist for A Lens Through Time: Hollywood’s Portrayal of the Black Family, sponsored by the film production company Lionsgate and will do a discussion and Q&A on “The Black Family and Representation in Media” for Ethicon, a Johnson & Johnson medical device company.
