This year The Department of African American and African Studies will award six academic scholarships to AAAS undergraduate majors, minors and graduate students in good standing. These scholarships are funded through the department’s Gwen H. Kagey Endowed Scholarship Fund. The Gwen H. Kagey was established in 1995 by the OSU Board of Trustees with funds from the estate of Gwen H. Kagey (B.A. Theater’75). This award provides support for undergraduates and graduate students in the program to attend conferences, workshops, study abroad and other academic activities. This year the department will award up to $1000.00 (per scholarship).
The requirements for submission are:
- Completion of Kagey Scholarship Form (available in 486 University Hall)
- Statement of Intent: Brief Explanation regarding the intended purpose for the use of the funds, and how the experience gained will enhance your academic, professional, and personal development (not more than 2 pages, double-spaced).
- Letter of support from an AAAS faculty, and an affiliated faculty member
- Budget detailing how the funds will be used (*Note that original receipts for expenditures will be required upon return)
