Adélékè Adéẹ̀kọ́ and Kwaku Korang Awarded $50,000 Community Engagement Grant

AAAS faculty Adélékè Adéẹ̀kọ́ and Kwaku Larbi Korang were awarded a $50,000 Community Engagement Grant from the Global Arts & Humanities Discovery Theme for their project "Being Black/Becoming Black," which consists of "(i) a two-year study of Black-serving, local and regional community groups, their activities, and their comprehension of being and becoming Black; and (ii) organizing inter-community programs that will invigorate these institutions that serve equity mobilization needs of Black groups, both US-born and immigrant. The study and the program of activities based on it are intended to bring together evolved strengths of African American and immigrant African groups in new ways; ways that will enhance resources available for combating race-derived inequities.” The project will be housed at the AAAS Community Extension Center.
