Kerry Charles, WCMH Channel 4 news anchor, will do a feature story Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at 7:30 PM. The story addresses the May 1971 racial unrest, police raid, and ultimate shut down of Linden McKinley High School and, consequently, the arrest of OSU’s first director of Black Studies, Charles Ross. Ross had been working with local junior and senior high school students to advocate for Black Studies curriculum in the schools and happened to be at Linden McKinley during the police raid. AAAS faculty member Simone C. Drake will be featured in the program to promote the upcoming release of a documentary she produced that covers the event and to discuss, along with her father, who was a student during the shutdown, growing up in Linden and why she wanted to tell this story.

A promo of the story is available here.
