Congratulations Sarah Wilkes and Chris Newman, the 1^st and 2^nd place winners of our “Roots before Branches” contest! Sarah and Chris received $100 and $50 gift cards, respectively, for their successful entries. Sarah received a gift card from the Lakeshore Learning Store to help purchase school supplies at the Eastgate Elementary School where she volunteers. Chris accepted an Amazon gift card. The contest was organized by the African American and African Studies department at The Ohio State University to promote Black History Month and engage OSU students in a discussion about the relevance of Black Studies in the age of the Black Lives Matter movement.
